25 years without answers: Where are Eritrea’s missing writers and journalists?
Join PEN International, PEN Eritrea in Exile, PEN Norway, and PEN centers around the world in the global campaign #ProofOfLife for missing Eritrean writers and journalists.
In September 2001, the Eritrean government shut down all independent media outlets. It arrested 12 writers and journalists, including Swedish Eritrean journalist Dawit Isaak, for peacefully criticizing government policies and advocating for reforms.
They have been missing ever since. Eritrean authorities have never confirmed where they are being held, whether they are still alive, or what has happened to them.
Join us in demanding answers from Eritrean authorities: Where are the 12 writers and journalists?
