Vårt arbeid skal fremme og forsvare ytringsfrihet. Det gjør vi ikke minst gjennom å styrke forståelsen av, øke kunnskapen om og engasjementet for spørsmål om demokrati og menneskerettigheter. I samarbeid med en rekke aktører utforsker vi ytringsfrihetens mange lag gjennom ulike temaserier og enkeltarrangementer.

Fred og frokost
En samtaleserie om krig, konflikt og autoritære styresett – og hva som skal til for å skape en mer fredelig fremtid.
Én gang i måneden inviteres noen av Norges fremste eksperter på ulike konfliktområder til samtaler om utviklingen på bakken, de politiske og historiske drivkreftene – og hva som skal til for å skape en mer fredelig fremtid. Fred og frokost foregår i et intimt format med begrenset antall plasser, med mål om å bli kollektivt klokere om komplisert tematikk i en atmosfære som tillater høyttenking, dilemma og tvil. Her kombinerer vi faglig innsikt og globale perspektiver med dypdykk i konflikter som sjelden når avisforsidene – alt servert med en god frokost og en kunnskapsrik start på dagen.
Drinker og dikt
Et møtepunkt hvor poesi og opplevelser smelter sammen. Drinker og dikt byr på opplesninger av både anerkjente norske poeter og forfulgte internasjonale stemmer.
Drinker og Dikt er kvelder med alvor og glimt i øyet – med rom for sterke historier, humor, uventede møter og poetisk kraft. Kom for poesien, bli for samtalene, og ta del i en kveld der det sosiale og det politiske går hånd i hånd. I baren serverer Sentralens egen bartender en spesialkomponert drinkmeny, med smaker, navn og beskrivelser inspirert av poetene og stedene de kommer fra. En cocktail fra Iran, en smak fra Myanmar, en duft fra Hviterussland – drikken speiler diktet, og verden kommer nær.
