PEN Norway is working for freedom of expression both in Norway and abroad. As a member you are making a direct contribution to our work. You become a part of a big team – the world’s largest, in fact – who believes in a world where everyone has a right to free expression.
As a member you will:
– Participate in protests against abuse, harassment, imprisonment, and in the worst case murder, of writers and other freedom of expression activists
– Support PEN Norway’s work as a driving force in key national topics on freedom of expression
– Making it possible for us to keep our activity level both high and impactful
– Join a community with over 1000 others who are working for freedom of expression
PEN Norway needs more members – the larger our numbers, the stronger we stand.
Who can become a member
Authors and other artists, journalists, publishers, editors, members of cultural organisations and other related businesses supporting PEN Norway’s work and the PEN charter, can apply for membership in PEN Norway.
The applications are processed by the board, but if you are a member of one of the organisations mentioned in the statues, you are qualified for direct membership.
PEN Norway’s work is based on the principles in the PEN charter. As a member of PEN Norway you support these.
How much does it cost?
The member fee is NOK 450 annually.
Does your organization wish to contribute to PEN Norway’s work? Associations, institutions and companies can sign up for support membership in PEN Norway. Contact Secretary General Hege Newth at firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 930 02 262 to hear more.
