As a member of Norwegian PEN, I express serious concern about the prolonged detention without trial of poet, songwriter, journalist and activist Ericson Acosta.
Norwegian PEN seek your assurance that Ericson Acosta has access to all necessary medical care whilst detained.
We also call for his immediate and unconditional release if held solely for the peaceful exercise of his right to freedom of expression, as guaranteed under Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, ratified by the Philippines.
