Molde becomes Norways 6th City of Asylum
The city authorities in Molde, Norway, decided on June 30. to join the international network of Cities of Asylum for persecuted writers.
Norwegian PEN has already approached Norwegian immigration authorities and applied for status as CoA-writer for poet and playwright Gilles Dossou-Gouin from Benin. The city of Molde and its literary festival “Bjørnsonfestivalen” hope that Dossou-Gouin will arrive in Molde in time to give the opening speech at this years festival, due to start on August 24. Dossou-Gouin will stay in Molde for two years with his wife and two small children.
