As a member of Writers in Prison Committee, Norwegian PEN, I am deeply concerned by the health and sentence served against teacher and writer Dolma Kyab.
He has been heavily sentenced for writing a comprehensive study about Tibet. We are concerned about his health following reports that it has considerably worsened in recent weeks. And we protest against the ten-year prison sentence handed down to him.
We believe that teacher and writer Dolma Kyab is detained solely for the peaceful exercise of his right to freedom of expression, and I call for his necessary medical care and immediate and unconditional release in violation of Article 19 of the United Nations International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), to which China is a signatory.
