Your Excellencies,
Prominent human rights lawyer, journalist and writer arrested, fears for safety.
The Writers in Prison Committee of PEN International protests the arrest of a prominent writer, journalist and lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh (f) who has been imprisoned since 4 September 2010. PEN International is concerned for her safety and well-being in detention. It considers that she is targeted solely for the peaceful exercise of her right to freedom of expression as guaranteed by Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, to which Iran is a party, and calls for her immediate and unconditional release.
Yours sincerely
Annaguli Yildam,
Member of Norwegian PEN, WiPC
