“Only one word could be used for media outlets described as mainstream in the 1990s: cartel. The mainstream media bodies that made up the cartel began by de-unionising the workforce. This new attitude came hand in glove with the arrival of neoliberal policies in Turkey, ushering in a new era of de-unionisation in the media,” said Gökçer Tahincioğlu, who wrote the article.
