One morning I walked: Poetry event for Ilhan Çomak

Where: Fritt Ord Foundation (Uranienborgveien 2, 0258 Oslo)
When: 23 March 2022, 19:00-20:30 CET

A performance of the poetry of Ilhan Sami Çomak with excerpts from his autobiography and letters to PEN supporters.

Award-winning poet Ilhan Sami Çomak has just published his 9th collection of poetry from Turkey’s highest security prison. He has been locked up there for 28 years and yet his words and spirit continue to grow in beauty and strength. From his prison cell, Ilhan exchanges poems and letters with more than 80 poets worldwide, and his first selected works in English will be published by Smokestack Press in September 2022.

Ilhan is PEN Norway’s honorary member, and we have been campaigning for his release and promoting his poems for for years.

With poets Aasne Linnestå, Torgeir Rebolledo Pedersen and Caroline Stockford.

Snacks and drinks will be served.
